Bocheongyo: A Formative Stage
Bridging Tradition and Renewal
Bocheongyo (보천교) was a religious movement that arose in the early 20th century, serving as a bridge between the Donghak tradition and the full revelation of Jeung San Do. It preserved and transmitted the teachings of Sangjenim during a period of profound social and political upheaval in Korea.
The Role of Taemonim
Taemo Go Subunim (1880–1935) played a crucial role in this formative stage, continuing the work of Cheonjigongsa that Sangjenim had begun. Her dedication and spiritual authority ensured the continuity of the Dao lineage through a period of great difficulty.
The Emergence of Jeung San Do
The modern organization of Jeung San Do was established in 1974, building upon the foundations laid by Donghak and Bocheongyo. While these earlier movements prepared the ground, Jeung San Do represents the full flowering of Sangjenim's teaching for the age of the Later Heaven.
